Representation

In our film we want to challenge the dominant ideologies of the elderly and of young adults. After the London Riots, teenagers were all viewed as violent yobs, especially in the media.

The Daily Mail is one of the main media bodies that impose this idea. In this article the author brands British teenagers as 'The most unpleasant and potentially violent in the world.'

This idea is then absorbed by the elderly generation and the majority of pensioners believe that all young adults are thugs.

We want to challenge this ideology by switching the roles between the elderly and teenagers during the London Riots. We will do this by showing the riots and making the audience assume the rioters are young adults. We will then reveal, at the very end, that they are in fact, rioting elderly women.

We want to give a comedy view on a subject that we feel very strongly about.

  1. You have made a great start to the project. I want you to think very carefully about how you will film this, think about the pay off at the end of the film and how you will lead the audience. Can you get enough Grannies?
