Initial Idea Discussion

Present at discussion: Shannen & Colette
Date of discussion: Wednesday 14th of November

Today we had a meeting in Costa to discuss our possible short film idea. We eventually came up with a concept that we are quite excited with, and have been thinking of more and more developments overnight.

Genre of idea: Social realism/comedy hybrid

Idea:
The short film would be based on the London riots - hence the social realism element. The overall nub and gist of it would be that throughout a gang of yobs are suspected by the audience to have been stealing/causing a nuisence during the London riots. The twist at the end is that the gang of yobs turns out to be a group of OAPs in disguise.

Throught there would be comedy aspects, e.g:
shots of knives and a burning stove, made to seem threatening... yet they turn out to be used for cutting cake and boiling a kettle.

One of the main aspects of the short film that we were hoping to use are news reports - filmed and created by us, and actual footage from the London riots - e.g. gangs throwing things at shop windows, to futher make the audience think that the gang are just another young gang.

One of the issues that our short film would present using this idea would be gang violence. This is a recent up and coming problem in cities, especially London, and our hope is to add a light hearted joke onto this.
