Location Photos *UNFINISHED*

After mindmapping various locations in our previous post that we could use for our film we have taken some photographs to decide whether they are suitable for what we are trying to achieve.

Location 1- Colette's Living Room

We were thinking of using this room as the grannie's 'lair.' However, there are a lot of problems with using this room! The walls come up extremely bright on camera which would make it harder to achieve the creepy, dingy feel we were going for. Also, the room is very big and quite modern- we wanted the room to look small, cramped and old fashioned. And finally it needs a good tidy!

We could make this location work by using mid shots and close ups to create the feeling of a smaller room and by changing the saturation when editing so the walls aren't as bright. We'd also need to move the furniture around to create a more claustrophobic feel to the room. I think that we should use this as a last resort if we can't find anywhere else to film this scene, but in the mean time look for more suitable locations.

Location 2- Colette's Kitchen

For the fast paced shots of the grannies in the kitchen we will need to use various close ups of a kitchen. This location would be good for the scene as it has a gas hob on the cooker (we need a shot of a person lighting the gas) and it is also well lit so we wouldn't have to use too much artificial lighting. Again though, like the living room we would have to refrain from long shots as the room is quite modern and not the style we are aiming for. Once again, the room needs a huge tidy up! I think that the room would work well in close ups for the cross cutting scene but not as well for establishing shots/medium shots.

Location 3- Wall Outside House

This is a possible location for the rioting scenes as the brick wall gives an urban, city like feel. We are slightly at a disadvantage with our settings for this scene as we live in a small rural town but with correct framing and location we should be able to pull off a makeshift, urban setting. This location will be where the rioters 'spray paint' onto the wall (we will add this in later when editing). This could also be where the news correspondent  reports about the riots from.

Location 4- Shannen's Playroom

This is another possible room for the Grannie's 'lair.' It is a lot smaller than Location 1 which is ideal to create a small, claustrophobic feeling to the room. The white wall in the background could also be used for the news report room. The blank wall will allow us to create a news studio feel. to create this we will need to add props such as a table, chair, news notes etc.
